           Homemade Bread/Rolls

5 LB bag of all purpose flour (you won't need it all)
1 Tbls. salt
1 Tbls. granulated sugar
1 Tbls. Vegetable shortning
1 Cup cold milk
3 cups boiling water
2 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast

Put about 4 fluid onces of very warm water
(not hot) in mug or small glass. 
Add small pinch of sugar and yeast to water,
Stir and set aside for yeast to "work"
In large mixing bowl place salt, sugar and shortning.
Add 3 cups of boiling water and stir until disolved.
Add very cold milk and stir.
Check yeast; It should be bubbly and almost doubled in size.
Add to liquid and stir well to evenly distribute yeast.
Add flour 1 cup at a time and stir well after each addition.
Add enough flour to make it a little thicker then a cake batter.
Do not add to much flour or bread will be heavy.
Turn out of floured surface and need for about 7 minutes.
(adding more flour as needed.)
Dough is ready for first rising when it springs back when you push 2
fingers into it.
Grease large bowl, put dough in bowl and.
turn to make sure all sides are greased.
Cover with towel a set in warm, (85 degrees is ideal) dry, draft free place.
Let rise until dough doubles in size (about an hour)
When dough has doubled, punch down and
turn on lightly floured surface.
knead again for about 7 minutes.
Do not add more flour.
Shape loaves/rolls and place in greased pans.
Let rise until doubled (about an hour)
Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes until golden
brown.
Bread is done when it makes a hollow
sound when tapped on.
Remove from pan, Rub all sides with butter or margarine and cool on racks.









Homemade Sloppy Joes

1 lb. ground beef (browned)
1 med. green pepper (diced)
1 16 oz. can of pork and beans
1/2 cup of catchup
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp chili powder
Brown ground beef and drain. Add the rest of ingredients and simmer on very low for about 15 minutes. Or you can add all to a slow cooker on low for about 2 hours.   Pour over hamburger buns and enjoy!
